The cutting edge of new scientific ideas and emerging technologies

NSBRI brings scientific expertise and concomitant funding to space-related problems facilitating the work of university and industry scientists to solve the unusual physiological and psychological challenges of living and working in a spaceflight environment. NSBRI is governed by a consortium of 11 academic institutions and the Brookhaven National Laboratory. NSBRI openly competes projects to any qualified US institution or entity, and is also able to involve international investigators. NSBRI is a small, nimble non-profit company with strong ties to academia and industry positioned outside the federal government. This structure delivers an organization on the cutting edge of new scientific ideas and emerging technologies, with the ability to form and implement partnerships across the boundaries of different countries or types of organizations.
