Application Process


Currently, there is no active call for applications. Each call for applications will specify the date by which all applications must be submitted via email. Applications are due by 5:00 PM CST on the specified date. For general questions regarding SMARTCAP, reference our FAQ or for answers about the matching fund requirement click here. 1-application

STEP 1: A call for applications is issued approximately six weeks prior to the application deadline. The call may be specific or general. Check eligibility, complete the application in accordance with the instructions and submit it via email.

2-notified

STEP 2:
Applicants selected to advance are notified within four weeks of application submission. Those applicants not selected are not notified.

3-slides

STEP 3:
Advancing applicants submit a slide deck for additional evaluation by the Industry Forum Steering Council. Typically, companies have four – six weeks to prepare the slide deck.

4-finalists

STEP 4:
The Steering Council selects several applicants to present in-person and demonstrate the product. Selected applicants are typically notified within 2-3 weeks of slide deck submission.

5-demo

STEP 5: Two representatives of each finalist company travel to Houston at our expense to present the company and demonstrate the product / technology.

6-recipients

STEP 6:
Grant recipients are notified. Typically, it is less than six months from the call for applications to notification of award.

7-funding
Now, it’s time to get to work!
